I’ll be upfront. I LOVED this movie. I think except for maybe 5 minutes, I was laughing the whole time. It has Sandra Bullock in it, whom I’ve loved since Speed, Ryan Reynolds who’s hilarious and not to painful to look at either.

Basic story, which you would have gotten from the trailers running right now: Margaret, played by Sandra Bullock, is a hard-ass, Canadian book editor living in New York. She let her visa slide so she’s going to be deported. She ropes her assistant, Andrew, played by Ryan Reynolds, into marrying her to stay in the country. To convince they deportation worker it’s a real marriage, they set off for Andrew’s home state of Alaska for his grandma’s birthday party where they plan on telling his family.

Honestly, Sandra plays the same character she pretty much always does. She’s pretty much the same woman she was in 2 Weeks Notice only change lawyer to book editor and up the bitchy scale about 45% (for the first bit of the movie anyway, until she starts to warm when she starts interacting with Andrew’s family). And Ryan Reynolds is in his character comfort zone too. But they both play the roles so well, I didn’t mind at all. And I’m someone bugged by that type of thing.

And the scene they show in the trailer where they’re both naked. Yeah, it’s a bit longer in actual movie. And the camera pans full out. And Ryan’s sweaty. Ok, I’m a perv but it was a nice scene for me.

  1. LOL, you make me laugh! Hurrah for naked scene. Maybe now I’ll be motivated to watch it. I remember seeing Two Weeks’ Notice at the cinemas and thinking what a waste of my ten bucks it was… but these films need a chance sometimes, eh.

  2. Dude. The naked scene is great. You get full side cheek-age. :D It really is a great movie if you want something funny.
