First off, best one yet. In most of the others there was at least a smidge where I was kinda bored. This one didn’t. It’s been since the book came out that I read it so I couldn’t fairly compare. I will spoil tag it for the 4 people in the world that didn’t read the book even though I’m not gonna say much.
I won’t go so far to give it a full 5 stars only because they did leave out certain things that could easily be explained in throw away lines if nothing else.
Okay, my sister pointed out they didn’t do Dumbledore’s funeral. I was okay with that. I thought that kinda took momentum away from the story in the book and I love the wand thing they did instead. It was kinda saying that the light will triumph over darkness and was actually pretty touching.
Liked how the played the advancing romance between Ron/Hermione and Harry/Ginny. It’s there but it’s not OMG!!!THERE!!! They don’t really do much in way of Remus/Tonks which makes me wonder if they’ll have them get married/have a baby/croke in the last one. And still we get nothing on Ron’s brother (sorry, I forget which one!) joining the Order of the Phoenix and falling in love with/marrying Fleur.
And they burned the Wesley home to the ground which hinders them having their wedding there at the beginning of the next movie anyway.
The scene in the cave trying to get what turns out to be the fake Horcrux is creepy and dark. Although I do feel the zombie dudes could have been designed a little more originally because they looked almost identical to Gollum from Lord of the Rings.
Oh, and the whole “Half-Blood Prince” plot-line is almost non-existent which is kinda funny considering the name of the movie. They show the name in the book, Hermione mentions it like twice, and Snape fesses up to it at the end after he sends Harry on his ass for using one of his spells. Odd choice to leave out so much.
Still a fantastic movie. I highly recommend it.

I was disappointed that they left out the part at the beginning when Dumbledore told the Dursleys off for being such horrible guardians to Harry, but I understand it would have taken too much time.
They also left out when whatshisname accuses Harry of being “Dumbledore’s man through and through,” and Harry’s all, “That’s right, biotch.” That was also disappointing.
I loved the movie, though. I just wish there was a way to include everything without making a seventeen hour long movie.
Thankfully I hadn’t read the book since way back when it came out because otherwise that stuff would have bugged me too. My sister had re-read it right before seeing it as had one of her friends and it really set their teeth on edge.
I did think that part about being “Dumbledore’s man” was in this one but then I thought maybe it was the next one. That is kind of an important piece of info but then again, considering the name of the movie is “HP & the Half-Blood Prince” and they make the Half-blood prince a sub-plot at best, I guess it’s not that surprising.
