Douchey vampire boyfriends, whiny werewolf suitors, and a really pissed off army of newborns.

I saw this Friday night in a surprisingly not very full, small theater. Maybe everyone but my group went opening night? I enjoyed it very much. They’ve fixed several problems: The wolves look more like actual wolves and not obvious CGI (I mean, you can still tell it’s CGI but they look much better). The Jacob and Seth wolves are actually quite adorable. Kristen Stewart didn’t show every emotion by stuttering and odd facial ticks. However, they kinda made Edward MORE of a douche. In the book he is at the beginning and mellows fairly fast. In this, it’s douche city the whole way through. And Robert Pattinson’s acting seems to have regressed. This isn’t his finest work.

For true purists – they DO change a few things. Imprinting talk is minimal (no kid imprinting yet), Riley is made more of a central character, there’s not as much Bella babysitting, and there were a few other things. I didn’t feel it effected the story negatively.

My sister wanted to go again today and I almost did but I didn’t like the time. We will be going again next weekend though. I saw the 1st one 2 or 3 times in theaters but the 2nd got pulled from our local after only a few weeks so we only saw it once.

Basically "The Prophecy" and every other evil angel movie/tv show. Only shittier.

Basically last season of “Supernatural” only with the cliché ”save the pregnant lady, baby is the key to the future!!!” plot. It even has Jess, Sammy’s bbqed girlfriend from season 1 as said pregnant lady. As well as Addision from “Grey’s”/”Private Practice” as an apparently unstable mom, Brenda’s husband from “The Closer”, and the dude who played the albino in “The DaVinci Code” and Chaucer in “A Knight’s Tale” as Michael. Only he’s super buff so it took me a sec to realize. There’s other familar “hm, I’ve seen them on tv or something” faces in there too.

The plot itself is as I said, cliché. Almost boring several times, maybe because it’s so done. If you want quasi-evil angels re-watch last season of “SPN” or rent the first “The Prophecy”. Although Albino Chaucer’s abs are almost worth the rental fee. I got this for free from the Redbox so I’m not out anything myself.

Co-written by Nikki “Rosalie Hale” Reed and the first director of the Twilight saga movies. And it mostly pissed me off. Basically 2 bratty teenage girls doing alot of stupid crap they should have been beat with the phone book for. And it’s all artsy and crap. This movie put me in a bad mood after watching it.

Vampires just drink blood. They don't eat human flesh. That's zombie, writers!

A vampire movie that thinks it’s a zombie movie, staring Ethan Hawke. Everyone’s a vamp save a few humans that are being rounded up for blood. Blood’s about to run out and the vamps are going mad/mutating into nasty demony things. Ethan has to find a synthetic blood but instead finds a cure. From the sun. Yeah.

Several of the “gory” scenes actually made my sister and I laugh. It’s clear they thought since there was lots of blood it’d be awesome and scary but it just comes off looking stupid. They also ended it open as if they’d be able to do a sequel or something. Don’t hold your breath.

Death has some dumb ass plans.

Kept me entertained but only barely. I think I spent most of the movie rolling my eyes at the “clever” deaths. The movie was originally filmed to be 3D and I think still was had I had some glasses but the story proceeded as though the plot was wrote around how to make things look good in 3D not here’s the story and we can make this scene 3D.

The 2 main couple was likable though. I didn’t give a crap about their friends but the token black guy, a security guard they saved and therefore part of death’s plan was sympathetic also.

And there was a quick throwaway line from a newscaster that lead me to believe the story was supposedly set in the city I work in which is cool…except everything about it was completely wrong, a common occurrence I’ve noticed when a story is set there (it’s happened 1 or 2 other times) since it is a big enough city it might have been heard of but small enough the general public isn’t going to know jack about it. Dear writers: the majority of us aren’t hicks or racist. It’s Indiana for god’s sakes, not the deep south.

There were a couple nods to the first 1 or 2 movies if you’ve seen them a fan might appreciate too. All in all, ok for a view but don’t buy it.

My name is Salmon, like the fish. First name, Suzie.

I wanted to see this in theatres but it’s REALLY long and I started hearing it didn’t remotely measure up to the book which, while depressing as hell, is still beautiful and bittersweet. So I waited until DVD. A FEW SPOILERS AHEAD AS I DISCUSS THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE MOVIE AND BOOK!!!!

First off, don’t listen to the people claiming it doesn’t do the book justice. Yes, some changes were made but the story’s still there. One person even complained that she didn’t get raped before being murdered (ew, right?) but if you really want to make that argument, there’s still the possibility and likelihood she was (but what DIFFERENCE does it make?!?!) as I seem to recall, didn’t the killer actually…have sex with her post-death? And he’s creepy in the bit we see down in the underground hole.

Some of the points of the story are moved around, happen at different times, or don’t at all but it’s still ok. For instance, the affair between the useless detective and the mother doesn’t occur which I think is a good choice because both I and a friend I made listen to the book via audio thought the mother seemed cold and selfish. She doesn’t so much in the movie, just falling apart, as one would after the death of a child.

The creepy Ruth-body sex also is removed thank God. The events of the movie happen closer together than the book and Ray and Ruth are friends but still young. While near the end, Suzie does enter Ruth’s body, it’s only to steal the kiss she was deprived of having with Ray. I think it made it actually sweeter because the creepy sex kind of cheapens the story in the book to me.

And finally, anyone who loves gorgeous, breathtaking cinematography will appreciate this. The trailer shows only a fraction of the lovely scenes in Suzie’s quasi-heaven. It’s really filmed beautiful. Peter Jackson did a great job.

1, 2, Freddy's coming for you...

The original NoES is one of my favorite horror films (I even run the fanlisting here if you’re interested), so I didn’t have super high hopes of enjoying the revamp. But Katie Cassidy, who I’ve adored since she was Ruby V1.o in “Supernatural” is one of the stars (unfortunatly, so is Kellan Lutz of “Twilight” fame, an actor I’d love to smack simply because he seems like a douche but SPOILER he dies quick.)

I actually did enjoy it. I don’t think it’s fair to compare. The similarities are only that there is a killer stalking and murdering teens in their dreams who’s burned and has a claw hand and sweater. And Nancy’s still the main character, though it doesn’t start out seeming that way. I don’t feel she’s the strong character she is in the original. She’s just kinda there. Not much different from the other characters except she draws. Shitty I might add.

There’s more backstory, something I hated in the “Halloween” revamp but it works here. They don’t try to humanize Freddy like they did Michael. It looked like it was heading that way but the plot twisted.

My 2 cents: it’s worth a view. I don’t really regret it. I won’t buy it on DVD and I doubt I’ll rewatch it. Which I guess that does mean I do like the original more as I have watched it multiple times and own it. If you have seen the original, it’s likely you won’t get many or any scares as many scenes are staged similar. I did however drag along a friend who not only has not seen any of them but HATES horror movies so it was fun watching her jump. I’m something of a sadist I suppose.

Alice falls down the rabbit hole again.

This takes place 13 years after Alice’s first voyage to wonderland. She’s 18 and just been asked to marry a real loser and in a moment of being overwhelmed she runs off and once again falls down the rabbit hole. She doesn’t remember her previous time in wonderland and keeps being told she’s not the right Alice. The Red Queen has made wonderland a horrible place and in order to restore order and the White Queen to the throne, Alice must muster up the courage to fight the Jabberwocky.

I did stay entertained watching this but I don’t feel the urge to watch it again. It doesn’t feel as Burton-esque as some previous Burton films. It’s not even very weird. Worth a watch but I won’t buy it when it comes to DVD,

…I feel like I just emerged from the drug induced dreams of Rob Zombie. That movie…hm.

It’s not bad per say, it’s just not good. It kinda meanders. And all the characters I care about end up dead so it’s hard to feel good at the end. In fact, I’m not quite sure what happened at the end.

Oh look, it's Izzie. Or Izzy. Or the pregnant chick from "Knocked Up". Who the fuck cares.

First off, I have had this from Netflix since November. November. I just couldn’t get in the mood to watch it. I’m not a huge Katherine Heigel fan anyway. I mean, I don’t hate her but she tends to play characters I find shrill and unrelatable.

Her character in this was no exception. She’s shrill, controlling, annoying, pushy, bitchy, and pretty much a basket-case. We’re told she’s smart but every chance she negates that by acting like a buffoon, usually having to do with her “hot” next door neighbor, who she thinks is the perfect man.

Enter Mike, a chauvinist who is being added to her morning show (I don’t even remember the character’s name! Maybe I should just call her Izzie. Or Izzy. Either one because other than 1 being an alien and the other a murdering doctor who can’t follow protocol, they’re the same and they’re THIS woman! So is her character from “Knocked Up” actually.) Anyway, he’s a pig but he’s pretty good looking and since this movie is 1 huge cliche, of course he has a sweet heart under the rough exterior. And of course, he falls for her while helping her land the next door neighbor. And after several mix-ups and misunderstandings, they end up together. Because this movie is 1 sloppy cliche.

I should have just sent it back.
